Couple in 70s die in Omagh crash
Gareth Wilkinson reports:
Police have confirmed that a couple in their 70s have died in a road traffic collision between their car and a lorry in Omagh.
The crash, involving a gold Volvo car and red Scania articulated lorry, happened on the Doogary Road shortly before 3pm on Monday.
PSNI Inspector Keir Kitt said: “Sadly, the occupants of the Volvo car – a married couple aged in their 70s - died at the scene of the collision.
“The lorry driver was uninjured.”
Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who was travelling on the road around the time of the crash, to contact them on 101.
Inspector Kitt added: “I am especially keen to hear from anyone who may have captured dash-cam footage of the collision, or who believes they saw the Volvo car prior to the collision.”
Meanwhile, the Great Northern Road has been closed in both directions following a separate serious crash on Tuesday.
