Oisín McConville gives Tyrone fighting chance at upset
Armagh legend Oisín McConville believes his old foes Tyrone have a fighting chance of causing an upset in the All-Ireland final against Dublin.
Mickey Harte’s Red Hands go into Sunday’s big game as the underdogs up against the might of Jim Gavin’s rampant Dubs, who are seeking their fourth title in a row.
McConville admits Dublin are “awesome at the minute”, but as someone who had his fair share of battles with Tyrone over the years, he believes they could do what it takes to upset the odds.
Tyrone won their last two games, against Donegal and Monaghan, with goals in the last 10 minutes.
“You judge teams on how they play when they’re under the most pressure,” McConville said.
“Tyrone, especially in the Donegal game, I think that was the first time we saw this team finding their own niche.
“We saw how strong they can be off the bench, when everybody’s talking about Dublin. If they can stay in the game long enough, those players can make a difference.”
He added: “That’s one of the biggest decision now for Mickey Harte – do I take these boys off the bench because I feel as if we’re still going to be in the game, or do I start with them?”
