Sinn Féin highest earning NI political party in 2017

With earnings exceeding £1million, Sinn Féin took in almost twice as much as the next highest earning political party in Northern Ireland in 2017.

The figures have been revealed by the Electoral Commission, who published the details on Wednesday 22 August.

With an annual income of £510,362; the DUP earned just over half as much as Sinn Féin's £1,008,752.

The data also shows that the UUP took in £457,827 in 2017; Alliance earned £360,143 in the same year.

The Electoral Commission claims all parties successfully submitted their audited accounts by the deadline.

The financial accounts of parties with an income of £250,000 or less had previously been published in July.

The SDLP had declared an income of £236,977.
