Lurgan alert condemned after disruption
Police have condemned those behind a security alert in Lurgan which has since ended, but caused disruption throughout the morning.
The alert was sparked by a report that several explosive devices had been left in the Lake Street area on Thursday.
The railway line had to be closed, including during the morning rush hour.
Nothing suspicious has been found and the cordons have since been lifted.
PSNI Chief Inspector Jon Burrows said: “I would like to apologise to all those who have been inconvenienced.
“The blame for the inconvenience, however, lies squarely with a small group of individuals who have absolutely nothing to offer local people or society in general.”
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the false alarm to contact them on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800555 111.
