Nearly 10 acres of woodland affected by wildfire

Nearly 10 acres of woodland has been affected by wildfire near Tollymore Forest Park in Newcastle, Co Down.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service managed to contain the fire last night in the Drinnahilly Mountain area.

A total of 60 firefighters tackled the blaze using eight pumps and four specialist appliances.

Specialist Wildfire Officers have also been working with the NIFRS.

Firefighters left the forest on Wednesday night due to potential danger to the crew.

Operations are now back up and running this morning and are likely to continue throughout the day.
