Conlan hails Belfast atmosphere after home win
Belfast boxer Michael Conlan has hailed his home win over Brazilian Adeilson Dos Santos as “an unbelievable experience”.
Thanking fans for the “beautiful atmosphere” at the SSE Arena on Saturday night, Conlan said it had been “another great learning experience”.
The 26-year-old remains undefeated as a professional, having taken victories in a string of fights in the US before returning to Belfast for his big homecoming.
After a thrilling entrance, Conlan started cautiously and found a tough opponent in Dos Santos.
But his impressive footwork kept him out of trouble as he out-manoeuvred the Brazilian in the second half of the fight, and ultimately maintained his unbeaten record.
The 79-73 points win after eight rounds comes just days ahead of another cause for celebration for Conlan - the birth of his second child.
