17,000 expected to take part in 2018 Belfast City Marathon

Around 17,000 people are expected to take part in the 2018 Belfast City Marathon.

The city will see a mix of professional runners and fun runners raising funds for their chosen charities.

The event kicks off at 9am on Monday 7 May at City Hall and finishes in Ormeau Park, with the route taking in all parts of Belfast.

Police have advised drivers to anticipate some traffic disruption and plan for potential delays in the city while the event is ongoing.

2017's winner Laura Graham was the first local in 18 years to cross the finish line first.

The Co Down runner won the women's race in 2 hours and 41 minutes.
