'Pipe bomb' found in Newtownabbey resident's garden

A 'viable pipe-bomb type device' has been found in Newtownabbey.

The security alert in the Arthur Avenue area of the town has ended.

The device has been taken away for examination.

It follows earlier reports of an object being found in a resident's garden at about 8.30am on Sunday 6 May.

A number of residents from the area had been evacuated from their homes while the security alert was ongoing.
