20-year-old shot in both legs in west Belfast attack

Police attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 20-year-old man has been shot in both legs in a gun attack in west Belfast.

The shooting happened in the Ardmonagh Parade area just before 10.30pm on Thursday. The victim was attacked by three men and shot three times in the leg and ankle.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment where he is in a stable condition.

A Detective Inspector said: “This was a brutal and despicable attack, which has left the victim with potentially life changing injuries. It is yet another example of how criminal groups seek to control communities through fear and violence.”

“I would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact Detectives at Musgrave Criminal Investigation Branch on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1360 12/04/18.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
