Rory McIlroy is heading into the final round of the Masters at Augusta National just three shots off the leader, his Ryder Cup rival Patrick Reed.

The Northern Ireland golfer will be playing alongside the American on Sunday, after a third round that included a chip at the eighth for a sensational eagle.

“Even though I was a few behind, I knew I needed a good round to get me in with a chance,” McIlroy said.

“I rode my luck a couple of times out there. You need to have luck on your side at times.”

The 28-year-old former world number one lost out to Reed in a singles match at the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine, but will be hoping he can come out on top this time around.

Meanwhile, American Rickie Fowler sits just two shots behind McIlroy, with Spaniard Jon Rahm one shot further back.
