Man accused of killing Portadown pensioners last year to appear at Crown Court

A man accused of killing an elderly couple in Portadown last year, is to have his case referred to the Crown Court.

Michael and Marjorie Cawdery, who were both 83, were found dead in their home in Upper Ramone Park on Friday, May 26 last year.

Thomas Scott McEntee who is from Moorfield Court in Kilkeel is accused of the double murder.

Previous courts have heard claims that McEntee was armed with a knife when he allegedly broke into the couple's Upper Ramona Park home.

He is alleged to have stolen a cheque book and keys from the house before stealing the couple's car.

As well as two counts of murder, McEntee is also charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated vehicle theft of a Renault Kangoo which was damaged.

Appearing at Craigavon Magistrates via videolink this morning, the 40-year-old was remanded back into custody and will appear in court again next month.
