Police are investigating after eight hospital transport vehicles were damaged overnight at Belfast’s Royal Victoria.

As well as the cost of the damage, estimated at about £4,500, significant disruption has been caused to patients who rely on the buses.

The incident of criminal damage was reported to police at about 1.30am on Monday.

PSNI Inspector Roy Burnside said: “Eight vehicles had their windows smashed and were broken into sometime last night.

“Police at Tennent Street would appeal to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity at the car park, or who has information which could assist police with their enquiries, to contact them on 101.”
