Neighbours have spoken of their shock and heartbreak over the murder of a woman in the home of her elderly parents in the Finaghy area of Belfast.

Anne O’Neill, 51, was staying with her parents when she sustained injuries that led to her death in the back garden of the property.

Those living nearby reported being woken by her screams at about 7am on Saturday.

The house had Ardmore Avenue remains cordoned off as police investigations continue.

Officers have been granted more time to question two men who were arrested on suspicion of murder in the Malone Avenue area on Saturday morning.

Detectives have ruled out burglary as a line of inquiry.

The victim’s parents are now being cared for elsewhere, but neighbours fear they may never get over what happened in their own home.
