Mother of murder victim Marcell Seeley speaks out
The heartbroken mother of Marcell Seeley, who was kicked and beaten to death, has told of her anguish that her son was left to die on his own.
Claire Seeley spoke out for the first time on the anniversary of his murder two years ago.
She said the family is struggling to come to terms with the brutal way in which Marcell was murdered in his flat in Lurgan's Tagnevan estate.
The 34-year-old was beaten and kicked to death by Mark Daniel Ward, from Drumellan Gardens in Craigavon.
The father-of-four, whose ear was partially ripped, survived for several hours but his body wasn't discovered until two days later.
"That's what really hurts me," Claire Seeley told UTV. "The thought of him lying there for that time was awful."
The Seeley family sat through the six-week trial.
They were relieved when the jury found Mark Ward guilty, a man they insist was never a friend of Junior's.
Marcell's mother says she is glad Ward has been been jailed for a minimum of 16 years.
"I don't really care what he gets, because I don't think he'll ever live with peace in his heart and mind, if he's any sort of decent person," she said.
However she added that their family will be forever broken.
