The parents of a Ballymena boy with a life-limiting illness are appealing for the public to help give him a birthday to remember by sending him cards.

Ethan McClean turns nine on Thursday 14 September.

He may look like any other little boy, but Ethan has a severe muscle wasting disease that may eventually claim his life.

So every birthday is precious and, to mark his ninth next week, his parents want people to send him cards to make it extra special.

Ethan, who is a hug Belfast Giants fan, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was just 18-months-old.

But, by the age of 10, doctors have warned his mum and dad he could be in a wheelchair full-time due to the loss of power in his legs.

If you would like to send Ethan a card, you can post it to: 49 Dunsane Park, Ballymena, BT43 7AJ.

There will also be a postbox set up in the foyer of the SSE Arena before the Belfast Giants' game against the Guilford Flames on Saturday.
