Frampton fight cancelled after Gutierrez accident
Carl Frampton's fight with Mexico's Andres Gutierrez at the SSE Arena in Belfast has been called off with less than 24-hours' notice.
In a statement, Frampton's promoter Cyclone Promotions said Gutierrez had suffered a freak accident after falling in the shower.
"Cyclone Promotions and The SSE Arena regret to announce that the 'Return of The Jackal' event scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 29th July, has been cancelled due to an accident to Andres Gutierrez," the statement read.
"It is hoped that the event will be re-scheduled but ticket holders are advised to retain their tickets and contact point of purchase for further information."
The 30-year-old was preparing to fight in Belfast for what might have been the final time.
Earlier in the day, organisers declared the bout against the Mexican was no longer a WBC featherweight World title eliminator after Frampton failed to make weight ahead of his comeback fight.
Frampton, a former double-weight World champion, was one pound over the 9-stone limit at Friday's weigh in.
The fight was scheduled to be Frampton's first bout since suffering his first professional defeat, against Leo Santa Cruz, in Las Vegas six-months ago.
