Man arrested after woman’s dismembered body found

A man has been arrested after the discovery of a woman’s dismembered body in Co Wicklow.

Part of a torso was found by walkers on Saturday, prompting extensive searches by over 200 gardaí, Irish defence forces and civil defence personnel.

Further body parts were then found on Tuesday, in a number of locations.

A murder investigation has been launched at the man arrested, who is in his early 30s and was detained by gardaí in Wexford, remains in custody.

It is believed the woman was murdered and her remains dumped recently.

Gardaí are appealing to people who were in the general area of Military Road/Laragh village in the recent past, and who may have seen anything suspicious or unusual, to contact Bray Garda Station.
