One of the men involved in the London terror attack was carrying an ID card used in the Republic of Ireland, according to reports.

He was shot dead by police marksmen after Saturday night’s incident, in which seven people were killed and dozens of others were injured.

Security sources in the Republic have confirmed the man, one of three involved in the attack, had been carrying an Irish-issued ID.

It has further been claimed he was from Morocco and was married to a woman from Scotland and had lived in Dublin.

A spokesperson for gardaí said they are liaising with counterparts in the UK, as investigations into the deadly attack continue.

"An Garda Síochána is providing every assistance to our colleagues in the London Metropolitan Police in relation to the terror attack in London," they added.

"We will process all requests from the UK authorities in relation to inquiries into individuals, identities or any other matter."
