Portadown boss Niall Currie has vowed he is the man to rebuild the club after the setback of relegation to the Championship.

The Ports have enjoyed plenty of success in the past, lifting four league titles in the last 20 years.

However, their recent defeat by Ards sealed their fate, although they still have two games to play.

It may be a long road back to the top flight, but Currie told UTV he is in it for the long haul.

“I’m more than determined that I’m going to put this club back on the map again,” he said.

As a Portadown native, he looks back on the glory years under Ronnie McFall and recognises the great things that were achieved in the past.

However, Currie wants to help write his own little bit of history for the club and see them become successful once again.

“We’re going to come back stronger,” he said.

“There’s good times ahead for this club, as far as I’m concerned.

"I’ve got to do whatever I’ve got to do to make sure we put smiles back on our fans' faces next season.”
