It seems our very own Julian Simmons is the new face of Belfast.

The UTV star features on a new mural in the heart of The Cathedral Quarter promoting the city's famous faces and places.

It was unveiled by boxing star Carl Frampton, who also gets a nod on the artwork.

Frampton said: “I love this area - to get a mention on the new mural is great and it looks the part as well.”

The mural at Hill Street is part of a Harp campaign “celebrating all that is magical about Belfast”.

It was created by Dean Kane - known as The Banksy of Belfast - and showcases some of the city’s famous sights such as The Balls on the Falls, Titanic Building and the H&W cranes, and some of the city’s legendary characters and local celebrities.

Frampton continues: “We’ve also got the busker that stands outside Castle Court with that instrument.

“I don’t know what that instrument is, looks like he made it himself, but he gets an appearance.”

Dean Kane said the mural also reflects Belfast’s unique sense of humour.

“Belfast has been famous for murals for a long time,” he said. “This one is a bit different because it’s very tongue in cheek.

“I hope it cheers people up when they’re dandering along Hill Street and take a look up at it.”
