The parties are expected to step up their efforts this week as the talks to restore power-sharing in Northern Ireland enter their final stages.

The latest round of negotiations were convened by the secretary of state after the last process failed to reach agreement.

James Brokenshire has given the parties until 18 April to break the deadlock - however this Friday is for all intents and purposes the deadline.

After that he will have to make a decision on the way forward.

Last week the prospects of getting a deal to save devolution looked bleak, with the parties giving a largely downbeat assessment on progress so far.

Issues surrounding legacy, equality and the Irish Language Act were being discussed.

If there is no deal, Northern Ireland could be facing another Assembly election or direct rule could be reintroduced from Westminster.

Mr Brokenshire has said he would decide over the Easter weekend.
