Tyrone beat Derry to lift McKenna Cup for sixth time
Tyrone have won the McKenna Cup for the sixth time in a row after beating Derry in the final at Parc Esler in Newry on Saturday.
Mickey Harte’s side took victory over the Oak Leaf County by 2-13 - 1-07 to write another piece of sporting history.
The sides were level on two points each when Colm Cavanagh found the net to give the Red Hands their first goal.
Tyrone were leading by a goal and five points at the break and forged ahead again in the second half.
Peter Harte was on hand to provide the second goal, while a late deflection gave Derry their consolation goal as Tyrone took the victory.
Northern Ireland Secretary of State James Brokenshire and new Sinn Féin northern leader Michelle O’Neill were among those who attended the game.
