Linfield demolish Swifts to maintain pressure
Dungannon Swifts 1 - 4 Linfield
Linfield made short work of Dungannon Swifts to maintain their chase for the Irish Premiership’s top spot, after securing a 4-1 win over the Co Tyrone side at Stangmore Park.
The Blues opened the scoring after 18 minutes when Mark Haughey headed home from Stephen Lowry’s free kick.
But Dungannon equalised when Allan Teggart found the net 10 minutes before the break.
Andrew Waterworth restored the Blues’ lead five minutes into the second half with a close-range finish, before a mix-up in the Swifts’ defence allowed Cameron Stewart to steal in and make it 3-1.
Jimmy Callagher completed the scoring when he managed to grab a goal from Ross Gaynor’s corner and David Healy’s side ran out deserved winners.
