Linfield eased into the final of the Co Antrim Shield with a 6-1 win over Ards at Windsor Park on Tuesday night.

Andy Waterworth set the Blues on their way with the opening goal on ten minutes. A quick free kick was knocked on by Chris Casement and Waterworth fired home inside the area.

Two goals in three minutes put Linfield in command with Waterworth grabbing the second and then Paul Smyth drove home a cross from Niall Quinn on 17 minutes to make it 3-0.

The home side continued to dominate the tie and it was no surprise when Kirk Millar added number four on 31 minutes.

Ards pulled a goal back on 56 minutes as Michael Ruddy netted his spot kick and they almost scored again with Kyle Cherry forcing a fine save out of Gareth Deane.

Linfield upped the tempo again with Mark Haughey heading home from a corner on 79 minutes before Smyth notched his second of the night to complete the scoring two minutes later.
