Jamie Conlan may be ready for a big fight night in Belfast, but his opponent missed their weigh-in on Friday due to a flight delay.

Conlan will now have to wait until Saturday to meet Hungarian David Koos face-to-face.

He told UTV that will not make any difference to the outcome at Titanic Belfast.

“I like to get a good measure and look into the eyes and see the body type and his reaction,” Conlan admitted.

“But the outcome tomorrow’s going to be all the same.”

Conlan has been training hard at his camp in Marbella and has never been more ready for a fight – but he knows he has to be, as he eyes a world title shot next year.

Meanwhile, boxing fans are looking forward to Saturday’s bill, which is packed with local talent.

Belfast Olympian Paddy Barnes will, of course, also be making his professional debut when he takes on Bulgaria’s Stefan Slavchev.

He says he may be new to the pro ranks, but he has plenty of boxing experience and is ready for “a routine night at the office with an easy victory”.

Another fighter looking to make it in the pro ranks is Steven Ward, who is relishing making his debut against Bulgarian Merdjidin Yuseinov.

And Marco McCullough will be in action as well, taking on Luis Lugo in a battle for the vacant WBO intercontinental featherweight championship.
