Coleraine held to draw by Swifts despite early lead
Coleraine 2-2 Dungannon Swifts
Coleraine went ahead after a penalty just nine minutes in, but were ultimately held to a draw by Dungannon Swifts on Friday night.
The Bannsiders got their first goal when Jamie McGonigle was fouled in the box, and Neil McCafferty stepped up to put away the subsequent penalty.
There was controversy when Dungannon got a penalty of their own when Coleraine were called for hand-ball – Andrew Mitchell fired in the equaliser for the Swifts.
Brad Lyons gave Coleraine the lead again going into half-time, although their opponents didn’t think the ball had crossed the line.
Chris Hegarty’s effort for the Swifts tied the game up again late on and, despite Coleraine pushing to try to take the win in extra time, the sides stayed locked at 2-2.
