Dundalk preparing for big night amid injury woes
After a strong start to their Europa League campaign, Dundalk are preparing to take on Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin.
Stephen Kenny’s side have been battling injury worries though, with captain Stephen O’Donnell already ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Several players had to miss training on Wednesday ahead of Thursday night’s clash, which kicks off at 8.05pm.
But the Lilywhites are still hoping to deliver a night to remember for their fans.
“It is unprecedented really for an Irish team to be in this position at this stage of the season,” team boss Kenny said.
“We know that Zenit St Petersburg have a great tradition. They have won the competition, they've got a great history in European competition, and we haven't got a history at this level.
“But we are certainly looking forward to it - it is a great occasion for us.”
As well as enjoying a good start to their European campaign, the Co Louth side have been performing well at home and are one win away from their third Irish Premier Division title in a row.
