Derry comeback earns cup replay
Dundalk 2-2 Derry City
Derry City's hopes of reaching the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup final are still alive after they came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with Dundalk in Sunday's semi-final clash at Oriel Park.
City boss Kenny Shiels saw son Dean give Dundalk the lead on 21 minutes. He got on the end of a cross from Alan Keane and it was too good for Ger Doherty in the Derry goal.
However, Shiels injured himself while scoring and was unable to continue with Patrick McEleney coming off the bench.
Dundalk's Europa League goal scoring hero Ciaran Kilduff made it 2-0 just before the break and at that stage things looked bleak for the Candystripes.
But Derry came storming back and goals from Rory Patterson and Ronan Curtis will see the sides meet again on Tuesday night at the Brandywell.
While Dundalk bossed the first half, Derry found their form in the second and the comeback was on after Patterson tapped in on 65 minutes after keeper Sava spilled a shot by Aaron McEneff.
The Dundalk keeper did well to deny Barry McNamee, but Shiel's side were not finished and with just four minutes to go they found the all-important equaliser.
A long ball from Dean Javis was picked up by Curtis and his well struck shot flew past Sava for 2-2.
