Co Cavan family found dead in home named locally
The three children found dead along with their mother and father in Co Cavan on Monday morning have been named locally.
The family was named as Alan Hawe, in his 40s, his wife Clodagh, in her 30s and their three sons, Liam, Niall and Ryan.
Castlerahan National School, where Alan Hawe was a teacher, issued a statement from Principal Anne Foley.
“They were wonderful children who will be greatly missed by all who knew them,” Ms Foley said.
“We are deeply saddened by this event. Our sympathy and our thoughts are with the extended family and friends.
“Alan was a valued member of our school staff and community.”
Clodagh Hawe worked as a teacher in Oristown National School.
“This is a terrible tragedy for the families, schools and the communities involved,” Principal Ann O’Kelly Lynch said.
“We are deeply saddened by this event. Our sympathies and thoughts are with Clodagh’s family and friends.
“Psychologists from the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) have been providing support and advice to us.
“We would ask you to respect our privacy at this time. No further statement will issue at this time.”
Both of the schools brought in psychologists from the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) to provide support.
