A Co Tyrone man will be laid to rest on Monday after his death in New York on Tuesday of last week.

Shane Quinn, a father-of-one from Drumquin, reportedly died after falling from a balcony.

Fr Kevin Mullan, the Parish Priest in Drumquin, said the news had hit the area hard.

“For the past week, there has been immense sadness in the community and rallying around his mum, dad and surviving siblings,” he said.

The 39-year-old was one of six children and had been living in Woodlawn, NY, since 2000, working in the construction industry.

He is survived by his son Ryan, fiancé Jeanette O’Gorman, as well as his parents and four other siblings.

His brother Kevin had passed away some years previously.

An obituary on the Pelham Funeral Home website described Shane as a ‘kind and good-natured man’, who could often be heard joking ‘by God, I’m good-looking.’

A Requiem Mass will be held at 4pm in St Patrick’s Church Langfield, with burial afterwards in the adjacent churchyard.
