A total of seven schools were targeted by hoax bomb warnings across Northern Ireland on Tuesday morning.

The schools all received calls claiming explosive devices had been planted. They were:

  • Ballysillan Primary School, Belfast

  • Bloomfield Primary School, Bangor

  • Leadhill Primary School, Castlereagh

  • Abbey Primary School, Newtownards

  • Linn Primary School, Larne

  • Ballysally Primary School, Coleraine

  • Holy Trinity Primary School, Enniskillen

Some had to be evacuated while police worked with the school authorities to ensure the safety of pupils and staff.

Thorough searches were carried out at each premises but no suspicious devices were found.

Police are investigating a possible link between these alerts and others received by schools in Great Britain on Monday.

There was nothing to suggest the incidents were terror-related, officers added.
