McIlroy hopes to defend Irish Open title in NI
Rory McIlroy has said he is hoping to defend his first Irish Open title in Northern Ireland next year.
The world number three carded a final round of 69 to finish three shots clear at the K Club.
He donated prize money of more than half a million pounds to charity.
Speaking after his win, an emotional McIlroy said: "I don't know if I can put it into words.
"I don't really get emotional when I win but I was trying to hold back the tears on the 18th green, looking up and seeing all my friends and family.
"I don't get the chance to play in front of them very often so to play like that and to finish like that today, I will never forget it.”
