Dungannon road racer Ryan Farquhar has been admitted back into intensive care after being injured in a high speed crash at the North West 200 earlier this month.

The 40-year-old motorcyclist had been in a stable condition following surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast to treat the chest and pelvis injuries he sustained.

A Belfast Trust spokesperson confirmed on Monday that Farquhar is seriously ill again.

He was injured in a collision with another rider during the Supertwins race on Thursday 12 May.

English racer Dan Cooper, 28, was also hurt, but was discharged from the Causeway Hospital after being treated for a shoulder injury.

Twenty-year-old Malachi Mitchell-Thomas lost his life in a crash at the NW200 the following day.
