Police Scotland is investigating allegations of historical sexual abuse within football.

The force released a statement on Tuesday announcing it had received a "number of calls" reporting offences and offering information.

It said these calls were in addition to those the NSPCC were already dealing with.

Detective Chief Superintendent Lesley Boa said Police Scotland would continue to work with the NSPCC and other partners to ensure "a co-ordinated police response" remained in place.

So far, more than 20 players have approached the Football Association over abuse claims after former footballers spoke out.

A number of police forces have already announced they are conducting investigations.
