US President elect Donald Trump has met with President Barack Obama at the White House following yesterday's election victory.

Mr Trump said he had discussed "a lot of situations, including some difficulties" with the serving President - and said he looked forward to more meetings together.

Chinese President looking forward to working with Trump

In a message to Donald Trump following his election victory, Chinese President Xi Jinping said China and America shared responsibility to promote global development and prosperity.

Congratulating the new president-elect, Mr Xi said: "I place great importance on the China-US relationship and look forward to working with you to uphold the principles of non-conflict, non-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation."

On the campaign trail, Mr Trump vowed to take on China and tax Chinese imports to stop currency devaluation.
