Suzanne Evans announces Ukip leadership bid
Suzanne Evans has announced she will made a bid for the Ukip leadership.
A new contest was sparked after Diane James resigned just 18 days after being elected to replace Nigel Farage.
She told The Andrew Marr Show on the BBC: "I think I'm the right person to lead Ukip into the challenges ahead."
Steven Woolfe was widely expected to be the leadership frontrunner, but he resigned from the party on Monday, saying he had "come to the conclusion that UKIP is ungovernable without Nigel Farage leading it and the referendum cause to unite it".
Ms Evans suggested Ukip had got a "toxic" image from being cast as a far-right party, something she said would happen again if Mr Farage's former aide Raheem Kassam became leader.
"Our members don't want that," she added.
