Prince Charles pays his respects on Aberfan anniversary

Prince Charles has met families of victims of the Aberfan disaster during an official visit on the 50th anniversary of the tragedy.

The Prince of Wales shook hands and shared a few words with people while helping to plant a tree at the memorial garden that now stands on the former site of Pantglas Junior School.

The Prince of Wales met families who had gathered to pay their respects to the victims of the disaster.
He spoke to a young boy who held a poster commemorating the tragedy that occurred at 9.15am on October 21, 1966.

The royal added mud to the base of new tree commemorating the 50th anniversary of the disaster.
