Rosie Winterton, Labour's Chief Whip for six years, has been sacked by party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

Corbyn thanked Winterton for her "exceptional service" as he announced that Newcastle MP Nick Brown had taken over the role.

"[Rosie Winterton] has played an outstanding role in her support for me as leader and for the Labour Party as a whole," Corbyn said.
