Grime artist Skepta has won the Mercury music prize in a contest that saw him beat off a challenge from David Bowie's final album.

The north London singer collected the £25,000 prize for his fourth album Konnichiwa.

  • ITV News correspondent Nina Nannar reports.

Bowie had been widely expected to win a posthumous prize with his album Blackstar, released days before his death from cancer.

This year also saw Radiohead pick up a record fifth nomination - though they have never gone on to win.
