Dallas Police receives 'anonymous threat' as security is heightened

Dallas Police said on Saturday they had received a new anonymous threat against law enforcement across the city - two days after five officers were shot dead.

The police department said it was taking extra safety precautions in response.

According to local media, police headquarters have been placed on lockdown and are surrounded by SWAT team vehicles.

Police teams were also seen sweeping a large parking garage near their headquarters shortly after the threat was made.

The American city remains on a high state of alert after five police officers were shot dead by a "lone gunman" on Thursday.

The shootings followed the killing of two unarmed black men by police in America in the past few days.
