Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom named final Tory leader candidates

Andrea Leadsom or Theresa May will be the next Prime Minister after making it through to the final two in the Conservative leadership race.

May secured 199 votes and Leadsom won 84 in the latest round of voting. Michael Gove polled third with 46 votes.

The campaign to become prime minister starts now

Now that the Conservative leadership election has whittled down the candidates to just two - Theresa May and Andrea Leadsom - the real campaigning can begin.

Michael Gove was eliminated in the final round of the contest, and the two female MPs will now have to campaign at hustings nationwide to win the support of Conservative party members, not just MPs.
