Theresa May was way out in front in the first round of voting

Liam Fox is out of the Conservative leadership race after receiving just 16 votes from Conservative MPs in the first ballot.

Theresa May, Stephen Crabb, Andrea Leadsom and Michael Gove remain in the battle to succeed incumbent prime minister David Cameron.

Theresa May was way out in front in the first round, with 165 of her fellow Tory MPs giving her their vote.

Following her, Leadsom received 66, Gove 48 and Crabb 34.
