Brit arrested at rally 'wanted to kill Donald Trump'

A Brit who tried to grab a police officer's gun at a Donald Trump rally told investigators he wanted to shoot the presidential hopeful, court papers say.

Michael Steven Sandford has been remanded in custody after appearing in court in Nevada where he did not enter a plea to a charge of committing an act of violence on restricted grounds.

Sandford's former neighbour back in the UK has told ITV News the 20-year-old hadn't been seen in the area for around 12 to 18 months.

Michael Sandford could face a decade in jail

Michael Sandford has been accused of trying to kill Donald Trump at a rally in Las Vegas.

According to documents filed in court, Mr Sandford tried to take a gun from a policeman, after seeing the weapon in an "officer's holster, in an unlocked position".

He could face 10 years in prison.
