Police 'may visit every UK MP after Jo Cox attack'

Local police may visit every MP across Britain to review security measures following the fatal attack against Jo Cox, Labour politician Stephen Timms has said.

Speaking on GMB, the MP for East Ham, who was stabbed in 2010, said: "After I was attacked, l think local police went to see every MP in the country and talked to them about their arrangements - that might now happen again."

Mr Timms also called for a political culture where people of different views are respectful to one another.

"We've managed that on the whole in Britain and I think it's very important that we continue," he added.
