Corbyn joins unions to urge Labour voters to back remain

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has pleaded for his party's supporters and trade unionists to vote Remain in the EU referendum in order to safeguard and extend the rights of ordinary workers.

Mr Corbyn, whose efforts so far in the campaign have been criticised as lukewarm, said Labour would be making "the strongest case we can" for a Remain win on June 23.

Remaining in the EU would enable Britain to challenge the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) more effectively, Jeremy Corbyn has said.

Speaking at the Labour In for Britain event, he said: "I want to challenge what TTIP is about and, as France has pointed out, we can oppose TTIP more strongly if we're part of the European Union to help stop it, and what it will do - not just to our public services, but the public services all across the continent."
