Euro 2016: Police arrest 36 people after clashes in Lille

French police have arrested at least 36 people following clashes with football fans in Lille.

On several occasions police charged crowds of chanting supporters, and red flares were let off amid a tense stand-off with officers.

The clashes followed the conclusion of Russia's match against Slovakia and come ahead of the England and Wales match to be played in nearby Lens later on Thursday.

Tears as children caught up in Euro 2016 violence

Women and children were among the football fans that were caught up in the violence at the Stade Velodrome as Russia fans clashed with England supporters moments after their Euro 2016 match ended.

Video footage from inside the stadium shows a group of girls, one visibly distressed and in tears, attempting to escape the crush as fellow fans struggled to get out of the stadium and away from the violence.
