Euro 2016: Police arrest 36 people after clashes in Lille

French police have arrested at least 36 people following clashes with football fans in Lille.

On several occasions police charged crowds of chanting supporters, and red flares were let off amid a tense stand-off with officers.

The clashes followed the conclusion of Russia's match against Slovakia and come ahead of the England and Wales match to be played in nearby Lens later on Thursday.

Fans at the England v Russia Euro 2016 match began fighting in the stadium after the final whistle.

It came as Russia scored an injury-time equaliser to hold England to a 1-1 draw in the pair's first game of the tournament.
