One dead and three injured in knife attack at German train station

One person has been killed and three injured in a knife attack at a train station near Munich.

Witnesses said that the suspected attacker shouted "Allahu Akbar" - Arabic for "God is great" - during the stabbings, but police say there is no evidence he was part of an Islamic extremist network.

The man was arrested shortly after the attack in Grafing at around 4:50am local time. Officials have said that the 27-year-old, named locally as Paul H., has "mental health and drug problems," according to AFP.

German train station attack victims 'all men'

All the victims of a knife attack at a train station near Munich this morning are men, German police have confirmed.

At least four victims were taken to hospital with "life-threatening" injuries following the attack at a station in Grafing at 4:50am local time, according to local media reports.

Police are checking witness statements that the man had shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great).

A police spokesman told the Bild newspaper that the man had been overpowered and arrested.
