Four dead after suicide bomb attack in central Istanbul

An explosion has rocked the main shopping district in central Istanbul, killing at least four people and injuring a number of others.

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive in Istikal Street, a pedestrianised boulevard lined with international stores and shopping centres.

36 injured in Istanbul bombing, seven 'serious'

A total of 36 people were injured in a suicide bomb attack in Istanbul, seven of whom are in a serious condition, Turkey's health minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu has confirmed.

Four people were killed in the blast, which happened in a busy shopping street in the centre of the city.

Mr Müezzinoğlu said 13 of those hurt were foreigners, but did not say where they were from.
