Homes evacuated as river bursts its banks after heavy rain causes flooding in Scotland

Scores of homes have been evacuated in Aberdeenshire after the River Don burst its banks and the River Ythan threatened to overflow, while people in an area of Aberdeen were advised to leave their properties.

Roads have been closed and trains and flights cancelled in Aberdeen and across the surrounding region as water levels reached record highs.

Abergeldie Castle teetering on the edge following floods

Abergeldie Castle is under threat of collapsing into the River Dee in Scotland.

The council is working with the owners and insurers to try to save the Aberdeenshire Castle which neighbours the Queen's residence of Balmoral.

Though to have been built around 1550, the castle is now under threat after Storm Frank battered Scotland.
